Arcadio Gil announced as the new ESCT Chairman

Warsaw, April the 25th 2017

This morning, at the International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC) European Conference, Tom McGee, President and Chief Executive Officer of ICSC, made the public announcement of the appointment of Arcadio Gil, as the new Chair of the European Shopping Centre Trust (ESCT, www.esctrust.eu)

The nomination was decided on during a recent Trustees meeting held in Amsterdam. Arcadio Gil, Managing Director of LaSBA in Spain, is succeeding Wolfgang Bays, CEO Brune Consulting Group in Germany, who has been the ESCT Chair for the last five years.

Under Mr. Bays chairmanship, the ESCT has been focused on a different group of activities: promoting education among the young breed of professionals of the shopping centre industry, awarding scholarships for students of the European Retail Property School ERPS, financing research studies with the Wuppertal and Aberdeen Universities, supporting the Revo Retail Path, an initiative that helps young apprentices into the shopping centre industry, sponsoring the successful NexGen Live! events, joinable by streaming to all the ICSC members, and assisting the newly launched ICSC Mentoring Scheme for young professionals

The European Shopping Centre Trust (ESCT) is an independent Trust established when the European Council integrated with the International Council of Shopping Centres ICSC in 1998. The aim of the European Shopping Centre Trust is to aid and support next generation professionals to attend shopping centre orientated education, and help further their career development to promote and encourage pan-European research which could be beneficial to the industry. The ESCT Trustees are all senior professionals from the retail real estate industry, taking responsibility for the right allocation of funds.
